COVID Review: Green Lantern

We were going to get a carry out from Green Lantern as we were seriously jonesing for some greasy pepperoni pools and their simple yet blissfully delicious Italian sub. The place is just far enough away that we decided to just eat in. We had big intentions of eating on the patio, but it was so hot and sticky out we opted to sit in the bar.

The actual bar area had plexi-glass installed between patrons and bar staff. Every other table was marked as “closed”. Staff all had masks on (except strangely enough, the bartenders).

The place was oddly slow. We are used to seeing packed seats and long waits regardless when you go. It is surreal to be out and see so many businesses closed and those open are partially filled.

They had hand sanitizer stations, hand sanitizer on the tables and paper menus. You are supposed to wear a mask when walking around but can take off when sitting and eating.

We felt pretty comfortable there, especially since there were not many people sitting near us. My only complaint? We had a nice long chat with our waiter, Marcus, about mushrooms. I said I hated them and would never order them, Omar said he loved them. Marcus said he could take or leave them but would never order them. I agreed. So why did my pizza come covered in mushrooms?? AHHHHH gross.

Actually, a second small complaint. The food took very long to come out. Way longer than when the place is packed. In fact our sub came out before the salad. First time in history my tall beer was gone before the salad came.

Of course, the flavor did not disappoint. We don’t think we ever had a bad meal at Green Lantern.
