COVID Review: The Masters

These reviews will be less about the food and more how restaurants are managing through COVID. Day one when restaurants opened, my boss declared we would go to lunch to celebrate the world opening back up. We headed over to the Masters as his beloved Boodles was still closed.

At noon, the place was pretty empty. I guess everyone has some trepidation about heading out on day one. I know I had some apprehension. I was relieved to see all protocols being followed. Staff all masked, tables sat very scarce, paper menus, no salt, pepper, ketchup, etc. on the tables.

The oddest change was no rolls, instead they brought loaves of bread for the table. They said it was so we didn’t worry that rolls were being reused. (Was that an issue before? I guess I never thought that the rolls left on a table would be put in a new basket for the next. But thanks NOW I WILL EVERYTIME!!)

I felt pretty comfortable there. I think our evenings sitting by the piano bar listening to our friend Gordy play our favorite songs are over for many more days as there will be no way to maintain social distancing. I miss the Friday night camaraderie with the guests who we have gotten to know and love, and singing along to all the songs that Omar tries to stump Gordy with.
