It’s Hawk-ward it Took Us So Long to Visit

We wanted to go somewhere new, so we decided to go to the one place we never seemed to be able to make reservations at, Coopers Hawk. I made reservations for the bar area, with the hope that there would be empty seats at the bar. Coopers Hawk has a very long wine tasting area that you can belly up to, with no chairs, but for the actual bar area, it is limited to about just 10 seats. They were totally filled when we arrived at 6 pm.

We were sat very quickly in a booth in the bar area. The bar area was pretty busy and the wait staff was working hard. Our waiter came over to take our drink orders. Omar ordered a bourbon, but as we were just coming from our bourbon distillery tour (you can read HERE), I did not need anything else.

We were just very hungry. Omar ordered calamari and we were supposed to split the potstickers and the Life Balance Burger. I say supposed to, because the calamari was so big that Omar left me to tackle the potstickers. Both were super tasty. The calamari stayed crispy even though dressed with chili sauce. The potstickers had great flavor, with a nice ginger soy sauce. Now the menu is a bit confusing as they have things on the Life Balance menu and also in other areas on the menu, I am not sure if the potstickers in the appetizer section is different than the Life Balance option? If they are different – not sure which one we wound up with.

They also brought out bread, which essentially is like a pretzel loaf. It was soft and chewy and very much like a soft pretzel, with less salt. The stock pic we showed below had mustard, but ours came just with butter.

The Life Balance menu is nice because they tell you the calorie count and you can gauge what you want to eat by those numbers. We split the Lifestyle burger, with just 596 calories, makes it a good option when splitting. The burger came with Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Spicy Pico de Gallo, Feta, Fresh Fruit and a Side Salad. The kitchen split the meal for us, bringing us both a small fruit salad, and small salad each with our own dressing. It was delicious and very nice of the kitchen to do that.

All in all, we enjoyed our dinner. Omar wanted to hate Coopers Hawk since it took us so long to be able to get reservations, but even he admitted he just couldn’t. The bar opened up about 7 ish when we were leaving, so if you wanted to sit at the bar maybe keep that in mind. In celebration of Cooper’s Hawk, I will leave you with this: A bird’s favorite time of day is cockatiel hour.
